Why do some people always say they'd like to live in a different time period?

I can see the appeals of it. When you see period dramas on TV and films, the pace of life seems a lot slower and more relaxing, but this is mainly due to the fact that these dramas revolve around the lifes of richer people, and if you were poor you're life would have been s**t. Even people who say they would like to live in the 70's or 80's wouldn't actually enjoy themselves, as there would be no internet or modern technologies. I like to think about living in a different time period as just a nice day dream or fantasy, something thats never actually going to happen, and you probably wouldnt want it to happen, but it's nice to escape into it sometimes.
