Is it possible to have something that is truly a "freak of nature", as opposed to a previously undiscovered

species, or mutant strain of something. Wouldn't anything found by science just fall under a new clification. Does nature allow so-called "freaks"? This question was brought to mind for me by the discovery in Thialand of the 'lungless frog'.
