I was asked to take 3 topics and use different types of prewriting techniques and I am kinda confused????

ok I have 3 topics and I have to use free writing, clustering,brainstorming and outlining for the project. I need to know what free writing is???? I am sure about brainstorming, I also need to know what clustering is..... I just want to be sure about the entire project before I get started.....
