Do OB/GYN ask women if they have had irregular periods in their lifes before issuing BC?

I am just wondering because if i read the literatur right, women with PCOS and irregular menstral cycles should be cautious when using hormonal bc, because of the timing. GF getting on nuvaring and i dont want kids ever, .. probably gonna get her of this crap and my junk rewired. But im wondering if the doctors ask this when they issue you the bc.
